Walking the Walk

January 26th, 2010

I experienced a blessing today. I had gone to a small sandwich place.. As I opened the door of the shop (to escape the cold, as well as get some lunch), I observed two men (obviously down on their luck-perhaps homeless) just standing near the window talking and looking outside. I ordered my sandwich and sat down. The place was rather deserted except for myself, another woman eating at a nearby table, and the two men I had seen when I came in. As I sat eating, I noticed another man (probably homeless, at least in need of assistance), come into the shop, go up to the counter, take a key to the men’s room, go into the men’s room and come out. Still another man came in, walked up to the self-serve coffee urns and stand there for a minute. ‘You waiting for me, man?’, the manager smiled, as he handed the man an empty Styrofoam cup. The man smiled, filled the cup with coffee and left. I then realized that what I had witnessed was Divine love in action. The men inside the warm cozy shop: the two men standing by the window chatting, the one who had come in to use the mens room and left, and the man who had graciously been given a cup of coffee, had all been recipients of unconditional love. The manager, obviously, wasn’t getting anything for his actions, but he was giving a lot. The men in the shop had been given warmth, the opportunity to use the mens room, a hot beverage to drink. They had all received random acts of kindness, with nothing asked in return. It is said that anyone observing someone performing an act of kindness is blessed. In this case I was richley blessed. On the way out, I gave a dollar to a street vendor selling papers for the homeless. It was a small act, but perhaps someone observing was blessed.

I Am Constantly Being Re-Minded

January 25th, 2010

The following is a quote from Abraham-Hicks: Someone asked us recently, “Is there any limitation to the body’s ability to heal?” And we said, “None other than the belief that you hold.” And he said, “Then why aren’t people growing new limbs?” And we said, “Because no one believes that they can.” So much has been written about healing, and although there are many factors involved, mindset is one of the more influential. My mother, Phyllis, used to say: ‘If you think you can’t, or you think you can’t, you’re right’. I am constantly being reminded of the necessity for positive thinking. I see people recover from debilitating illness because of their refusal to focus on anything which isn’t health affirming. The I Ching says”. ‘an obstacle lasts only so long as it is necessary (for the lesson to be learned).’ I am continuing to learn, to grow, to serve. I am also beginning to see that when unsure what to do, do nothing.

It’s A Balancing Act

January 24th, 2010

As long as I change those things which (I feel) limit the Highest and best in myself, and continue to eliminate, that which no longer serves me, I will be OK. Buddha said that if every bird needed to be the best singer in the forest, the forest would be a very quiet place, indeed. Celebrate diversity. Celebrate diversity and recognize the spark of divinity within each person you encounter.. Rumi said: ‘Every forest branch moves differently in the breeze, but as they sway they connect at the roots.’ We are more alike than different, because that spark within each of us comes from the same Source. The Lakota Sioux have a wonderful saying: ‘Mitakuye Oyasin.’ These two words mean All My Relations or We are All Related. … This kind of sums it up-as I see it.

Haiti: After the Cameras Disappear.

January 23rd, 2010

People are pulling together to help the victims of a natural disaster. One of the the main hopes is that after Haiti and the earthquake are no longer in the news, people will continue to help the victims.

Everything is Coming Together!

January 22nd, 2010

So many exciting events are occurring! There are classes in channeling, personal reality, healing (on all levels), and so much more. The time has come for each one of us to connect on whatever level is most comfortable, and to serve in any way we feel most drawn to. This is a time of transformation. Sometimes this change seems uncertain and undefined, however, without change there is no growth, and without growth there is stagnation. Let go and open up. Although there may be a fear of the unknown, it can also open up the space for a new millennium and, with this, a shift in Universal Consciousness.

Random Acts of Kindness

January 19th, 2010

I love the concept of ‘random acts of kindness’. You know – the idea of doing something for another person, with no expectation of recognition. I remember going to a party one time and giving readings for about eight women. I had just been laid off from my regular job, and really needed to watch my pennies. I don’t know whether I shared my situation with anyone at the party. When I got home, however, something ‘urged’ me to look in the pocket of the jacket I had worn that day. In the pocket was an envelope with the words ‘thank you’ written on it. Inside the envelope was a $100 bill. Especially appreciated at the time. I don’t know who the generous donor was. (I have an idea, but can’t be sure-since no signature was included). I will, however, always be thankful to them for that random act of kindness. Every day brings some opportunity to do some random act of kindness for someone. It may be as small as saying hello to someone. As I walked on the Mall this afternoon, a man asked whether I would buy one of his dollar newspapers (the kind homeless people sell). I turned to him and explained, ‘I am sorry, but I have no money one me’. ‘That’s ok’, he replied, thanks for acknowledging me’. You just have no way of knowing how the smallest sincere gesture will affect someone.

The Only Constant is Change

January 17th, 2010

Today was supposed to have been my last I Ching Meetup. Although the group has approximately 60 members, almost no one was coming. All that changed today. The group truly was a Meetup, with people sharing information and exchanging readings. I came to this meetup with the pure intent of closing this group. I had planned on doing this for some time, but had to hold today’s meetup because people had RSVP’d. I did do things differently than before at this Meeting. It was more fun, spontaneous. We really went with the flow. I was less attached to the outcome. Lo and behold, the others there asked me to continue the Meetup. So I will.

Helping Haiti

January 16th, 2010

The situation in Haiti has affected everyone in some way, even if only to make one realize how lucky they are. Nothing can be said which could even begin to explain why this has happened (besides the natural disaster, of course). For someone to use Karma as the explanation for this natural disaster, bespeaks cruelty and lack of empathy. The main thing, is for each of us to do what we can to help. Donations (especially medical), of course are essential, but so is positive thought and energy.

Things Just Fall Into Place

January 15th, 2010

Going with the flow allows one to move when there are openings, and retreat when they disappear. By remaining flexible and open, one is truly empowered and able to see opportunities in most every experience. The challenges become opportunities for growth. The opportunities become places for gratitude. I live to thank God that all my prayers have not been answered, and that I have always been exactly where I most need to be.

Making Excuses

January 13th, 2010

Well, I have so much to do- Getting ready for Thursday night’s class, Meditating, Writing. Yet, all I want to do is watch tv. Sure, I have a mission to accomplish-yet the allure of a square screen with a picture on it, has much more appeal to me at this time. I feel guilty for not doing what I need to be. However, tomorrow is another day, and I will do better…
