How Much To Do?

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Lately I have been torn between trying to be proactive, and stepping back and just listening. It is a balancing act, to say the least. By meditating, however, one can develop the skills to learn to listen. This doesn’t mean challenges won’t come up, but even when they do, one can more easily hear their inner voice enough to find the best action to take (or not, as the case may be).

Trusting Spirit

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

As I was rushing around, getting ready for choir practice this morning, I was trying to decide what to wear. Reaching for a lovely olive green jacket, I was stopped by a message from my guides. ‘Wear this instead’, was the message. ‘This’ turned out to be a turquoise sweater which wasn’t nearly as pretty as the jacted, but would work ok. Acting in accord with my intention to listen more, I decided to wear the sweater. Because it was still pretty early, my friend and I stopped for coffee. As I was entering the coffee shop, I noticed a German Shepherd and a couple people at a nearby table. Being an animal lover, I approached the tail wagging dog. As I reached to pet him, my gesture was met by his jaws clamping on my left arm. It hurt, and the skin was slightly bruised. The only thing which saved the bite from being more serious was the heavy turquoise sweater which I had been guided to wear. Had I not listened, and worn the thinner jacket I originally selected, things could have been a lot worse. I have no idea why the dog bit me. (perhaps he smelled my cat on me). That isn’t the point. The point is that I listened, and I wasn’t hurt. I am seeing more and more each day, that trusting Spirit can be a tremendous source of guidance and protection.

Turning Pain Into Compassion

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Sometimes it is so hard to let go of worries and fears. It is especially important, during these times,  to remember that every problem contains a solution. Sometimes finding a way out just entails being silent and letting the ‘Still Small Voice within’ to speak to us. Pema Chodron, a Tibetan Buddhist monk, speaks of a process called ‘Tonglen’, Tonglen is a  practice for connecting with suffering and awakening compassion in everyone. The core of this practice is breathing in other’s (and your own) pain and breathing out and you send out relief or whatever opens up the space for yourself and all those countless others ,whatever you feel would bring relief and happiness. Doing this contains the potential  to get past our immediate pain to use personal suffering as the path to compassion for all beings.

The Choice Was Made

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

I have always been torn between working in Metaphysics or choosing the Corporate World. Part of me believes I need a 40 hour a week office job, with a regular paycheck, benefits and vacations. The other part (my soul urge part) believes that I can follow the Metaphysical path (through teaching and doing readings) and will receive the clients, business, connections I need. In the past, I have always opted for the corporate (even though I felt unfulfilled and depressed). Granted, I was grateful for a regular job, however, a part of me felt I was selling out because I didn’t feel the Universe would supply. Last week I made a choice. Offered an opportunity for a ‘regular’ job, I decided to throw caution to the winds, and act on faith. I decided to be courageous. I choses the Metaphysical. Courage is when you feel the fear and do it anyway. If you jump, the net will be there.

Let It Go!!

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Let go of the need to be right.
Let go of the requirement that everything go according to plan.
Let go of the necessity to know the outcome ahead of time.

Just Go with the flow. You won’t be sorry about it.

This doesn’t mean not to have goals…Rather, it means to be open about the outcome and how this outcome is achieved.

Remember…It is ok to ask anything,
Anything… except ‘how’, that is.
