I have been recognizing a pattern; every time I  compare myself to another person, I lessen myself. I either (1) find things about them to envy, which increase my insecurities, or (2) I allow myself to feel a (false) sense of superiority-which soon fades. Anyway, when I look for similarities we share (rather than differences), a sense of unity (with myself, as well as others) is created.
